Pricing & packages
Interior design packages in Kenya, priced in shillings
These are our interior design packages in Kenya with clear starting prices in KES, what each one includes, and how payment works. Most Kenyan design sites hide the number behind a contact form. We do not. Pick the package that matches how much you want to do yourself, and every project still gets a free, itemised quote based on your space and scope. For typical market ranges, see our interior design cost guide.

Which package is right for you?
The three packages map to one question: how much do you want to do yourself? If you enjoy shopping and managing fundis and just need a clear plan, Design Concept gives you the scheme and a shopping list and gets out of your way. If you want the whole thing handled, from drawings to the day you walk into a finished room, Full Design & Fit is the one most clients choose. If you are furnishing a rental to win bookings, the Airbnb and short-let package is built around photos and guest experience rather than your own taste.
Not sure where you sit? Start with a paid consultation. We will look at your space, your budget and your appetite for hands-on work, and tell you which package fits. The consultation fee comes off your project price if you go ahead.

What an interior design package includes
People searching for packages often find a homepage or a vague service list and still do not know what they are buying. Here is the plain version. A package is a fixed scope of design work and management at an agreed fee. The fee is for our time and skill, not the furniture.
- A measure-up and a brief, so the design fits the real room and how you live in it.
- A layout and a mood board: where things go, the look, the colours and materials.
- A shopping list naming actual shops in Nairobi and price ranges for each item.
- On the full package: drawings, joinery and electrical layouts a fundi can build from.
- Sourcing, trade management, installation and styling, then handover.
What is not in the package fee: the furniture, finishes and labour. Those are quoted separately and itemised so you control the spend. See real ranges in our cost in Kenya guide.
Package prices by room and space
Starting fees are easy to quote, but most people want a feel for the all-in number, design plus furniture and finishes. These ranges are typical for Nairobi at mid-range quality. High-end finishes, imported pieces or heavy joinery push the top end up.

Per square foot, mid-range fit-out runs about KES 3,000 to 8,000 and high-end KES 8,000 to 15,000 and up. Your own number depends on the size of the space and the finishes you pick.
How payment works
No surprise bills. The fee is fixed before we start, and payment is staged so you only release money as work moves forward.
1. Design deposit
Paid to start the design stage. This covers the concept, layout and drawings.
2. Procurement payment
Paid before we buy anything, against an itemised list you have approved.
3. Final payment
Paid at handover, once the space is installed, styled and signed off.
For the design-only package the fee is usually paid in two parts: a deposit at the measure-up and the balance on delivery of the concept. We accept M-Pesa and bank transfer, and every payment is receipted. See the full process on our process page.
Mistakes that blow a Kenyan design budget
We see the same money traps over and over. Avoiding them is worth more than any discount.
- Buying furniture before the layout is set, then finding it does not fit the room.
- Hiring fundis with no drawings, so joinery is rebuilt twice and you pay twice.
- Choosing the cheapest finish on a high-traffic surface, which fails within a year.
- No itemised budget, so the spend creeps and nobody knows where the money went.
- Skipping lighting, the cheapest change with the biggest effect on how a room feels.
Where we work and what is in scope
We are a Nairobi studio. Most projects are in the city and the wider metro, with additional work in Nakuru, Naivasha, Mombasa and Kisumu, plus holiday homes on the coast. We cover full interior design and fit-out for homes, apartments, offices, restaurants, short-lets and retail spaces.
What we do not do: we are not a furniture shop and we do not sell off-the-shelf catalogues, and we do not take on pure construction or structural building work. We design, source, manage the trades and finish the space. If your project needs heavy structural work, we will tell you and work alongside your contractor rather than pretend it is our trade.
Questions about packages
Pricing FAQs
What does an interior design package include in Kenya?
It depends on the tier. A design-only package gives you the thinking: a measure-up, a layout, a colour and material scheme, and a shopping list with where to buy and roughly what to pay, so you can do the buying and fitting yourself. A full design and fit package adds the doing: detailed drawings, joinery and electrical layouts, sourcing, managing the fundis, installation, styling and on-site supervision until handover. Furniture, materials and labour are quoted separately and itemised so you see every line.
How much do interior design packages cost in Kenya?
Our packages start at KES 25,000 per room for design-only, KES 150,000 for a full design-and-fit project, and KES 250,000 for Airbnb or short-let styling. Those are design and management fees. The furniture, finishes and labour sit on top and depend on your choices. As a rough guide for a finished result, expect KES 3,000 to 8,000 per square foot for mid-range work and KES 8,000 to 15,000 and up for high-end finishes in Nairobi.
What is a normal budget for interior design?
A common rule is to set aside about 7 to 12 percent of your build or renovation cost for design and styling, then a furnishing budget on top. In Kenya, a one-bedroom apartment fit-out often lands around KES 600,000 to 1.2 million all-in, a three-bedroom house KES 1.5 to 4 million, and a small office KES 1 to 3 million. The biggest swing is finishes and furniture, not the design fee. We size the budget with you before any spending so there are no surprises.
How much is an interior designer paid in Kenya?
Rates vary by experience. Decorators and junior designers charge from about KES 5,000 to 20,000 per consultation or per hour. Established designers and studios usually work on a per-project fee or a percentage of the project value, commonly 10 to 20 percent, because that ties our pay to the whole result rather than the clock. We quote a fixed fee up front so you know the number before we start.
Is a package or hourly rate better value?
For a defined room or whole-home project, a package is almost always cheaper and less stressful, because the fee is fixed and you are not watching a meter. Hourly suits small jobs: a one-off consultation, a second opinion on a layout, or sourcing help for a single room. If you are unsure, start with a paid consultation and we will tell you honestly which route fits your scope.
Do your prices include furniture and materials?
No. The package price is the design and project-management fee. Furniture, finishes and labour are quoted separately so you can see and control every line. This keeps things honest: you are not paying a hidden markup buried in a single round number, and you can choose where to spend and where to save.
What is the 3-5-7 rule in interior design?
It is a styling guide for grouping objects. You arrange decor in odd numbers, like three, five or seven pieces, and vary their height and size, because odd-numbered groups read as more natural and interesting to the eye than even, matched pairs. We use it when styling shelves, coffee tables and consoles in a finished room. It is a finishing trick, not a substitute for a good layout.
How long does a project take and how do payments work?
You get your first concept within about 7 days of the measure-up. A single room runs 2 to 4 weeks, a full home or office 6 to 12 weeks depending on joinery and lead times. Payments are staged: a deposit to start design, a sourcing and procurement payment before we buy, and a final payment at handover. Every stage is itemised and agreed in writing first.
Do you work outside Nairobi?
Yes. We are a Nairobi studio and most projects are in Nairobi and the wider metro, but we take on work in Nakuru, Mombasa, Kisumu, Naivasha and holiday homes on the coast. For projects outside Nairobi we add travel and logistics to the quote and lean on video calls and detailed drawings to keep things moving between site visits.
